PTO sell back deadline is May 15
Employees who are eligible for PTO sell back should submit their request form to their department timekeeper or supervisor by Saturday, May 15. The PTO sell back program returns for non-bargained employees beginning in May 2021 as a result of reinstating benefits impacted by the Economic Recovery Plan.
The program is offered twice a year in January and May, but employees can select only January or May for their payout preference each calendar year. The PTO sell back will be paid out in the last check of the respective month. All new employees must complete their probationary period by Jan. 1 or May 1 in order to sell back PTO for their selected month.
Non-bargained for employees, excluding those in ungraded positions, have the option to sell back up to 40 hours of paid time off, as long as 40 hours pro-rated by appointment fraction remains in their PTO bank.
The May deadline applies to PTO sell back programs for non-bargained for exempt and non-exempt employees, service maintenance (AFSCME) employees and nurses (UMPNC). Program details may vary for bargained-for employees, and they are encouraged to check the sell back process & procedures document and/or the terms of their collective bargaining agreements.
