A message from Michigan Medicine leaders: Year-end recognition bonus

May 26, 2021  //  FOUND IN: Strategy & Leadership

Colleagues,

As we near the end of the fiscal year, we have some great news to share with you. In these past months, we have done exceedingly well with both operational and financial performance. We thank you deeply for all of your efforts during this very challenging year. We have surpassed the clinical activity and volumes that we originally forecasted, which is an excellent reflection of our ability to manage both COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients despite multiple surges. We also received unanticipated funding from the Provider Relief Fund, and have successfully managed expenses through the Economic Recovery Plan. All of these things require great effort and teamwork, and we appreciate your ongoing support of our journey and path back to stability.

We know you have faced extreme challenges and duress throughout this pandemic. It is with great gratitude that we offer a recognition bonus of $1,500 to all Michigan Medicine faculty, staff and house officers, including bargained-for employees, to express our tremendous appreciation for your commitment to Michigan Medicine and our patients (Labor Relations is working with various union leaders to discuss this bonus for the Michigan Medicine employees they represent). While this bonus in no way offsets the many sacrifices that you have made over the past year, it is one small way we can acknowledge the spirit of our people that continues to show their best selves in even the most trying circumstances.

This second recognition bonus will be included in paychecks on June 30, 2021 (monthly) and July 2, 2021 (bi-weekly).

We extend our sincerest gratitude to you for your dedication to our patients, each other, and our mission of advancing health for Michigan and the world.
