Organization hits vaccine milestone, offers more appointments
As of this week, Michigan Medicine has invited all patients age 16 and older who live in Michigan and have not already been vaccinated to receive a vaccine. Additionally, all U-M staff, students and faculty who have filled out the BlueQueue questionnaire have been invited to make an appointment.
“We have hit another significant milestone in our journey to vaccinate our community against COVID-19 and come one step closer to ending this pandemic,” said Dana Habers, co-lead of the COVID-19 Vaccine and Therapeutics Task Force. A large allocation from the state of Michigan and other partners has provided close to 10,000 first dose appointments this week.
The influx of vaccine supply has enabled Michigan Medicine to offer first dose walk-in vaccination appointments on Friday, April 23 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Individuals must present a Michigan Medicine medical record number for the walk-in clinic. Walk-ins are not available for second dose appointments.
Vaccination clinics are also being offered by appointment through Michigan Medicine at Michigan Stadium for the Pfizer vaccine and at the Brighton Health Center for the Moderna vaccine.
Clinics are also being offered in partnership with Kroger and Meijer pharmacies. The Kroger-sponsored clinic will be held today, April 21, at the Michigan Athletics Indoor Training Facility and is open to the public. Clinics for students, faculty and staff will also occur on Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 at the Meijer Pharmacy, 3145 Ann Arbor-Saline Road. All clinics are providing either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, which require two doses, three to four weeks apart.
“Please don’t wait one more day,” Habers said. “Make a plan to get your shot and protect yourself and your loved ones. We’re here to provide a safe and effective vaccine to you at no cost. Don’t miss your shot.”
Michigan Medicine is checking the State of Michigan’s immunization registry to identify everyone not already confirmed as vaccinated before extending invitations to patient portals at MyUofMHealth.org or via mail. Michigan Medicine patients who have not been vaccinated should check their patient portal or call 734-763-6336.
The BlueQueue will be updated daily with additional invitations sent to U-M faculty, students and staff as needed. U-M and Michigan Medicine employees and students can still complete the BlueQueue to receive an invitation for an appointment.
U-M staff, students and faculty with questions should call the Campus COVID-19 Hotline at 734-936-7000.
