Amy Stodgell, R.N., recognized with DAISY Award for compassion, care toward patients
Congratulations to Amy Stodgell, R.N., who recently received a DAISY Award for her work on 4B at University Hospital!
The DAISY Awards are given out by the DAISY Foundation to nurses who go above and beyond in their role.
At Michigan Medicine, Stodgell’s work has been recognized by those she has served on her unit. Here are a few of the letters submitted by former patients:
Nomination #1: I would like to nominate Amy for the Daisy Award for many reasons!
During my stay at the hospital, Amy went above and beyond every single shift that I had her as my nurse. Her positive attitude, willingness to make sure myself and my husband had everything we could possibly need, and her confidence in herself and her skills as a nurse gave me the confidence that I was getting the best care possible. She was leaving on vacation the day before I was discharged, and she took it upon herself to pack up several items I would be needing at home, just to make sure that I had all of the proper supplies.
She always communicated my concerns with the night-time nurses at shift change and made things very clear for them. She truly cares for her patient’s needs and their health.
Staying at the hospital isn’t always the best experience, or fun, but when Amy walked in for her shift, her infectious attitude and smile behind her mask changed my attitude and gave me a positive outlook! U-M is very fortunate to have her as a nurse, as well as any patients that receive her care.
Nomination #2: Amy was a complete blessing for three days after my surgery. On Day 2, a wonderful, lifelong friend of mine passed away much earlier than expected. I couldn’t talk, cry or breathe, but Amy was a savior for me while I was all alone grieving. The loss of my friend and the surgery were both incredibly painful, and Amy truly helped me through. She gave me wonderful advice based on her years of nursing experience and also helped me toughen up when needed! Thank you Amy!
Nomination #3: Amy was incredibly caring and patient. She had so much compassion, and made me feel so comfortable and light during a very dark and heavy time in my life. Her calming attitude and voice took away so much of the stress I was facing. I truly believe that my health got substantially better just by having her around.
Amy’s sweet personality, and her ability to bring joy and laughter was so welcoming that I felt it to my core. I could not thank her enough, and when I saw that I could nominate her for the DAISY Award, I did not hesitate. She deserves as much recognition as she possibly can. Amy is such a great asset to your team!
