With U-M Box cloud storage set to be retired this December, all Michigan Medicine departments need to take steps now to prepare to move their data out of U-M Box and into U-M Dropbox or another storage solution. This will be a self-service data migration, and current users of U-M Box will be invited to use the tool to move their data to U-M Dropbox starting later this spring. Prepare now by taking the following steps:
- Create your Dropbox account before April 30. Visit dropbox.umich.edu and sign in with your level-1 credentials to create or login to your account. Creating an account before any data is moved will ensure internal sharing permissions are maintained once data migration to Dropbox begins.
- Ensure your unit designates a Unit Ambassador. A Unit Ambassador will engage with the Box Retirement project team, cascade communications throughout your unit, and engage users when it’s time to migrate.
