Plan ahead and expect delays: Road work around Ann Arbor

Please be advised of ongoing and upcoming construction projects that will likely impact traffic around the city.

Plan ahead and expect delays and alert patients if they will be traveling in the area.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, Broadway traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction across the bridges to allow work as part of a bridge repair project.
    • Access to the Amtrak long-term parking lot will be maintained at all times.
  • Over the next few weeks, work will take place around the Ashley Street area:
    • Beginning today, March 8, First Street and Kingsley Street are scheduled to be closed from Ashley Street to Miller Street.
      • Vehicles traveling westbound on Kingsley will be detoured south on Ashley, west on Miller back to First Street.
      • Local traffic will be maintained between Ashley and Miller.
      • This work is scheduled to be completed by Monday, May 31.
    • Beginning today, Ashley Street will be open to only one lane of traffic traveling north from just south to Liberty Street to Huron Street. This work is expected to be completed by May 31.
    • Beginning today, Ashley Street at Washington Street are anticipated to be closed leading up to the Ashley and Washington intersection.
      • Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley will be detoured east on Liberty Street, north on Fourth Avenue, west on Huron Street back to Ashley.
      • Vehicles traveling eastbound on Washington will be detoured south on First Street, east on Liberty, north on Fourth back to Washington.
      • Vehicles traveling westbound on Washington will be detoured north on Fourth Avenue, west on Huron Street, south on First Street back to Washington.
      • Local traffic will be maintained on Ashley and Washington.
      • Work is scheduled to be completed by March 20.
    • Beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, Ashley Street is expected to be closed to through traffic from Liberty Street to Washington Street.
      • Vehicles traveling northbound on Ashley will be detoured east on Liberty Street, north on Fourth Avenue, west on Huron Street back to Ashley.
      • Local traffic will be maintained between Liberty and Washington.
      • Work is likely to be completed by 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, and the road reopened to one lane of traffic.
    • Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 22, Ashley Street and Liberty Street are scheduled to be closed leading up to the intersection of Ashley and Liberty.
      • Vehicles traveling north on Ashley will be detoured east on William Street, north on Fourth Avenue, west on Washington Street back to Ashley.
      • Vehicles traveling east on Liberty will be detoured south on First Street, east on William Street, north on Fourth Avenue back to Liberty.
      • Vehicles traveling west on Liberty will be detoured north on Fourth Avenue, west on Washington Street, south on First Street back to Liberty.
      • Local traffic will be maintained on Ashley and Liberty.
      • Work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24.
