Oil paintings by Alise Loebelsohn on display at Taubman Center

March 25, 2021  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

Alise Loebelsohn is a Brooklyn-based artist who has worked as a billboard painter, decorative painter and now owns a business that specializes in murals in New York City.

Some of the pieces in this series were created during the pandemic, using her sensitivity to textures, pattern and color to deal with issues of enclosure, reflection and our new reality.

She includes small mirrors to let the viewer know that while we have been more isolated lately and looking within, we must also look outside toward a future. Loebelsohn is an avid tennis player and has an identical twin sister who is also an artist.

If you are on the main medical campus, check out her work for yourself:

Where: Gifts of Art Gallery – Taubman Health Center North Lobby, Floor 1
