Vital Voices 2021 Faculty and Staff Engagement Survey coming soon
Michigan Medicine is launching the Vital Voices 2021 Faculty and Staff Engagement Survey on Monday, March 15, running through Friday, March 26.
The survey will give faculty and staff the opportunity to share their feedback with leadership on a variety of topics including communication, fairness, teamwork, safety and more.
“The engagement survey provides employees with an outlet to share input and contribute to positive changes in their work area and our overall organization,” said Deloris Hunt, chief human resources officer at Michigan Medicine.
The survey returns this year after being postponed in 2020 to allow faculty and staff to focus on the task at hand in the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“While it was necessary to postpone the survey that was planned for April 2020, leadership feels it is important that we hear from our faculty and staff,” said Hunt. “Your honest and confidential responses can and will lead to improvements benefitting you, your coworkers and our patients and their families.”
Here’s what you need to know about the faculty and staff engagement survey:
- Who is eligible: Both faculty and staff are eligible to participate in the survey. However, there are two separate surveys — one specifically for faculty and one specifically for staff — with varying content and different links to access the survey. Employees will receive an email on the day the survey opens with their appropriate link. Eligible employees must have started on or before Jan. 15, 2021.
- How the survey will be administered: Several Michigan Medicine departments, including Human Resources, Faculty Affairs and Quality, are working with the third party vendor, Press Ganey, to administer both surveys.
- Confidentiality and commenting: All survey responses and comments are sent directly to the vendor, and Michigan Medicine will not be able to tie individual responses back to employees and data will only be reported for groups with five responses or more.
- How long will it take: The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and will be made available through direct emails from Press Ganey (appearing as “Michigan Medicine Engagement Survey”) and links available on various internal communication channels during the survey window.
“This is the first time both the staff and faculty surveys will take place at the same time, using the same third party vendor,” said Phillip Lipka, employee engagement program manager. “This approach will allow us greater insight into the areas we excel at, where we’ve seen growth since our previous survey and what we need to work on as an organization.”
