This workshop is open to faculty and staff.
Health Equity is a concept that is starting to gain acceptance in medical and public health circles. The term is closely associated with human rights and social justice principles that support the collective benefits that can be achieved from a more inclusive and collaborative society. Healthcare data has consistently pointed to the less than optimal health outcomes experienced by certain population groups. That might lead one to ask following questions. What does equity have to do with health? Doesn’t your genetic makeup and adherence to a health regimen determine one’s health? This workshop will investigate those issues and others factors that influence health and how equity or the lack thereof is an important aspect of wellbeing.
