This week, Headlines focused on safety, service and superstars.

For instance, Michigan Medicine experts offered tips on how to have a safe Thanksgiving holiday during the pandemic; employees who are current or former veterans of the U.S. armed forces were recognized on Veterans Day; and faculty and staff shared who they deem to be the MVPs in their area of the organization!

How to have a safe holiday season during the pandemic

Thanksgiving is almost here — and it’s going to have to look different this year. For instance, large gatherings and travel will likely put you at greater risk of exposure to COVID-19. On Veterans Day, a salute to those who served our nation

Wednesday was Veterans Day, a chance to say thank you to all of those brave individuals who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Many of those service members work right here at Michigan Medicine. In their honor, Headlines ran a unique photo gallery of the faculty and staff who served and sacrificed for the nation.

From figuring out ways to investigate patient safety events remotely to volunteering to assist with COVID-19 testing, employees across the organization have stepped up in immeasurable ways during the pandemic. Relationships skills are more important than ever at work, as the organization begins to once again treat more and more patients with COVID-19. While 22,000+ faculty, staff and learners have already taken high reliability training, a refresh may be needed to ensure skills are maintained and put into practice daily.
