‘Poinsettias for Patients’ sale ends today
Today is the last day for Michigan Medicine faculty and staff to order poinsettias to help make the holidays brighter for patients in the hospital this December. Poinsettia plants purchased online now will be delivered to adult hospital patients the week of Dec. 21.
“Last year, through the wonderful generosity of our colleagues, we were able to provide poinsettias to 626 patients,” said Molly Dwyer-White, M.P.H., administrative director for the Office of Patient Experience.
“This is the third annual poinsettia sale, which grew substantially from the first to the second year,” she said. “I would love to see us beat last year’s number with even more donations this year. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could provide a beautiful plant to every hospital patient?”
The plants available for donation are 4.5 inch red poinsettias, costing just $6.50 each. Surprising every adult patient with a poinsettia would require donations of 750 plants.
All sales will take place online this year. Click here to place your order.
In addition to making a heartfelt donation, employees can order plants in a variety of colors and sizes for personal use and to give as gifts this holiday season.
Plants will be delivered to hospital patients the week of Dec. 21. Personal orders will be available for pickup from the main medical campus (location details will be emailed to those who place orders) on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Personal orders placed by the Nov. 11 deadline can also be picked up from Turner’s Nursery, located at 4431 S. Wagner Rd. in Ann Arbor, during business hours on Saturday, Dec. 5.
Proceeds from this year’s sale will help provide amenities and comfort items for patients and families. Donations can also be made directly to the Patient and Family Centered Care Fund.
