During National Case Management Week, be sure to recognize case managers at Michigan Medicine!

Case managers are behind the scenes solving many problems that faculty and staff don’t often see.

For instance, they work with insurance companies to provide authorizations for hospital services, as well as vendors to provide post-acute care services, among other tasks.

So who are case managers? They are registered nurses and social workers providing services to patients at Michigan Medicine over their entire continuum of care. They carry out their work autonomously with expert critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

This week is National Case Management Week. The theme is “Transitions through Care, Expertise and Integrity.”

Case managers’ expertise is shown daily through their investigative skills and ability to solve complex issues. They act with integrity and often serve as the patient’s biggest advocate, escalating issues and removing barriers. Be sure to take a moment this week to recognize case managers in your area — and thank you to case managers at Michigan Medicine for all that you do!
