RECENT STAFF EXPOSURES AT IN-PERSON GATHERINGS
We have recently had two separate episodes of COVID-19 exposures related to Michigan Medicine employees engaging in potlucks or restaurant meals during work hours. The number of COVID-19 cases is increasing in Michigan and we must be vigilant in order to protect our patients, visitors, co-workers and ourselves.
At this time, in-person staff gatherings and meetings of more than 10 people should be avoided. Meetings of 10 people or less are allowed when proper masking and social distancing can be maintained. Gatherings or meetings involving more than 10 employees should take place virtually.
A new Executive Order (No. 2020-147) issued by Governor Whitmer today states that any individual who leaves their home or place of residence must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth: When in any indoor public space; When outdoors and unable to consistently maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of their household; and When waiting for or riding on public transportation, while in a taxi or ridesharing vehicle, or when using a private car service as a means of hired transportation.
Employees are not to remove their masks for any purpose when they are unable to maintain at least six feet of distance from others. This includes removal of masks to eat, drink or talk to others if six feet of distance cannot be maintained.
Thank you for your cooperation.
