Julie Lumeng, M.D., confirmed as associate dean for research
Julie Lumeng, M.D., has been confirmed by the board of regents in her appointment as an associate dean for research. In this role, she will also serve as the Executive Director for the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR).
Lumeng is a tenured professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the medical school and professor of nutritional sciences in the U-M School of Public Health. She has been the associate chair for research in the Department of Pediatrics, as well as the director of the Center for Human Growth and Development and a member of MICHR’s faculty cabinet.
She also has a long and successful history of involvement with units such as the Regulatory Affairs Office, IRBMED and UMOR on central campus.
Her research focuses on applying emerging science in child development and behavior to the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity.
In her new role, Lumeng will be a member of the medical school Office of Research leadership team, helping to shape the broader vision for the clinical research enterprise as well as advise on enterprise-wide policies, procedures and operations.
