National Hospital Week: Thank you to all our health care heroes

This week, Michigan Medicine is recognizing and celebrating all of its health care heroes as part of National Hospital Week 2020.

The annual event, celebrated May 10-16 and sponsored by the American Hospital Association, highlights the hospitals, health systems and all of the people contributing to keeping patients and the community healthy.

Now more than ever, this important week gives an opportunity to celebrate Michigan Medicine teams and the innovative ways they are supporting the health care needs of the community members during this pandemic.

“We both witness your contributions on a daily basis — as we round our hospitals, ambulatory centers, administrative buildings and all of our sites where team members work,” said Marschall S. Runge, M.D., Ph.D., CEO, Michigan Medicine and David A. Spahlinger, M.D., president, U-M Health System, in an email to health system faculty and staff. “We are proud of your accomplishments — before and during this pandemic — and we are grateful for everything you do each day to make a difference in the lives of our patients, families and community.”

During these unprecedented times, every team member is valued and appreciated for their part in the response to the pandemic and service to those in need. A special thank you has been airing on television, thanks to a generous donor, and can be viewed on YouTube.
