#MichMedGrad campaign to celebrate graduating house officers
It’s that time of year when many of Michigan Medicine’s house officers complete their residency and fellowship programs, and graduate to the next phase of their careers. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usual in-person gatherings for graduating house officers will be replaced with a virtual celebration for all Michigan Medicine programs through the #MichMedGrad campaign.
Colleagues, family and friends can add #MichMedGrad to their tweets and public Instagram posts to share congratulations and advice, and have these messages appear on a special website: michmed.org/grad2020. Messages and photos can also be posted directly to the site.
For the 400 house officer graduates in nearly 100 programs who would like to share their celebrations with the Michigan Medicine community, the organization has created commemorative social media graphics.
“I’d like to extend our well wishes and my greatest gratitude for all of the contributions our house officers have made while they trained with us – especially during these recent challenging times,” said Marschall Runge, M.D., Ph.D., the executive vice president of medical affairs for U-M, CEO of Michigan Medicine and dean of the Medical School. “Our institution was made better, stronger and more resilient because of them. I hope their experience at Michigan Medicine also fostered incredible growth and learning to prepare them for the next phase of their careers. All the best for the future, and Go Blue!”
