Education virtual town hall to be held Thursday, May 28
On Thursday, May 28, the Dean’s Office will host another virtual town hall on education, with a focus on medical student education in light of our new environment.
The town hall will convene virtually from 4-5 p.m. at this Zoom link: https://umich-health.zoom.us/j/98205237973. The password is 282183.
The clinical environment has responded admirably to the challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the organization moves forward with “new normal” and economic recovery plans, it is committed to optimizing student education. Points of discussion will include:
- How to balance the needs of the clinical delivery system with those of students?
- How will medical students be incorporated into the health system as they return to clinical rotations in early June?
- As UMMS welcomes a new incoming class of medical students in August, how will their learning plans be adjusted?
A lot has been learned about new approaches to medical education as a result of the pandemic. The patience, tenacity and commitment to the education mission from the Michigan Medicine family has been inspiring.
However, the organization will need the creativity of faculty and the entire learning community to optimize student learning in the upcoming year.
The Dean’s Office looks forward to your advice and participation on May 28.
