Free interactive webinar to discuss parenting through the pandemic

April 24, 2020  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

All Michigan Medicine faculty and staff are invited to a free interactive webinar later today.

The webinar, which will take place from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., is part of the outreach strategy to support the emotional health and well-being of faculty, staff and learners during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hosted by the Unified Mental Health Group and entitled “Parenting through the pandemic: Strategies for the home front for staff and faculty on the front line.”

Experts from around Michigan Medicine will offer this valuable presentation and panel discussion. The session will also be recorded for later viewing.

The webinar is being offered because parenting even under the best of circumstances is challenging. However, juggling parenting demands and caring for children while serving as a nurse, physician, respiratory therapist, environmental services worker and other professions “on the front line” during this pandemic can feel especially overwhelming. There is no one-size-fits all experience — kids vary and families have different needs — but one thing everyone has in common is that this time is hard.

This webinar will offer parents useful strategies and approaches to caring for their children and for themselves from a compassionate, non-judgmental, and practical perspective, with strategies and tips for parents working in health care professions as they navigate these new challenges on the “home front.”

Presenters will include:

  • Kate Rosenblum, Ph.D., ABPP, professor of psychiatry and obstetrics & gynecology, co-director, Zero to Thrive
  • Jacqueline Kaufman, Ph.D., associate professor of physical medicine & rehabilitation, director of rehabilitation psychology/neuropsychology
  • Clarissa Love, DEI consultant, Office for Health Equity and Inclusion
  • Nicole Figueroa, M.S.N., R.N., AHN-BC, HWNC-BC, nurse leader for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Wellbeing
