Video: Checking in on Michigan Medicine Security’s two newest officers
In January, Michigan Medicine Security added Theo Chalogianis, its first on-site police officer, to the team. A short time later, the department acquired Leo, the first ever Michigan Medicine K-9 officer.
The addition of both officers adds new layers of security to the main medical campus, and the hope is that their presence will also create a greater sense of safety for hospital patients, visitors and employees.
In recent weeks, Leo has been going through intensive training with his handler, Security Officer Paul Meyers, and beginning to get acclimated to the sights, sounds and smells of the hospital.
Headlines wanted to check in to see how both Leo and Theo are doing as they adjust to their new roles — and to each other. Watch the video above to see how things are going so far!
