DAILY STATS

Today’s census for COVID-19 inpatients and those patients under investigation (PUI) are noted below:

PPE PRESERVATION

Employee safety is our highest priority.

Due to the limited supply of PPE in Michigan and across the country, PPE conservation is critical to maintain appropriate supplies for the duration of the pandemic. We are asking everyone’s efforts to preserve PPE by following IPE recommendations, which are determined by risk of transmission. Enhanced PPE is used in higher risk situations. http://www.med.umich.edu/i/ice/resources/clinical_guidance.html

We are implementing limited reuse of N95 masks in specific hospital areas.  In addition, we will soon be introducing reprocessing of N95 masks with heat and ultraviolet light to thoroughly disinfect. More details will be provided in these daily updates.

FOR AMBULATORY PROVIDERS: UPDATED VIDEO VISIT INFORMATION

Video Visits can now be performed using a special instance of MiChart, called MiChart with Video.  This can only be done using Core-Image Windows laptops.

Providers with MACs (Even core-imaged MACs) or personal windows computers will not be able to use MiChart with Video for video visits. They can perform video visits using an iPhone with the Haiku app or an iPad with the Canto app installed.

Register your laptop for HITS to push the MiChart with Video shortcut here:  https://forms.gle/aTKegSVGMtQGZn7TA

A limited supply of iPads are available for providers needing to do video visits who do not have a Core-Imaged Windows laptop or an iOS device.  Those requests can be logged here:https://forms.gle/prd7gNkxuAdzJfFP8

COVID 19 PROVIDER RESOURCES

A site with comprehensive resources for Michigan Medicine providers is now live:  http://www.med.umich.edu/i/covid19-careplan/index.html. We will be updating this web site continuously as additional information becomes available. Please send feedback, including requests to add information or report incorrect items, to kabolog@med.umich.edu.

RICU NO LONGER ADMITTING PEDS PATIENTS

Due to expectations of limited pediatric admissions and regional demand for adult beds, the RICU is no longer admitting pediatric patients for care (regardless if COVID+/PUI/etc).  Admission algorithms for this patient population have been updated to reflect admission location (attached).  Also attached is the Criteria for COVID-19 Testing in Pediatric Patients in Children’s Emergency Services and on Inpatient Pediatric Services Guidelines.

TEMPORARY HOUSING PROGRAM

Michigan Medicine continues to look at ways to keep our faculty and staff safe during the current COVID-19 pandemic. One such way is in providing temporary housing to employees who provide patient care services in the case of respite, quarantine/self-isolation related to COVID-19. Lodging can also be used if an employee has been exposed to COVID-19 positive patients during care delivery and have immunocompromised family members at home. Lodging will be provided in designated campus dormitories and local hotels that have lodging available.

Supervisors/managers must approve and submit the lodging request form for their employees. Confirmation of a reservation assignment will be returned within two to four hours after the request is made. It may be longer based on volume. The reservation office will be open daily from 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

For more information, please contact Alfreda Rooks at (734) 645-1303 or email arooks@med.umich.edu.

Those interested in temporary lodging should work with their supervisor/manager to submit the appropriate request form.  For more information, please contact Alfreda Rooks
