Update: Novel coronavirus

February 5, 2020  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

In response to the global health emergency declared regarding the novel coronavirus that was first identified in Wuhan City in Hubei Province, China, the organization is putting in place two precautionary measures.

First, all Michigan Medicine employees who traveled anywhere in mainland China within the past 14 days are asked to disclose their travel to their immediate supervisor and Occupational Health Services (OHS). Similarly, all employees who may have had exposure to a patient or individual with suspected novel coronavirus are also asked to disclose to their supervisor and OHS.

At that point, OHS will work with Infection Prevention & Epidemiology to identify the appropriate next steps.

To contact OHS, call 734-764-8021 between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Outside of these hours, for time-sensitive questions, please page Infection Prevention & Epidemiology at pager No. 30032.

Please note, this policy is in place for employees of Michigan Medicine and all employees whose primary work assignment is within the health system or medical school.

Additional information will be shared when available.
