Photo gallery: Dwyer’s legacy celebrated at farewell event

A large crowd gathered at Ford Auditorium on Wednesday to bid farewell to Shon Dwyer, M.B.A., R.N., executive director of University Hospital and Frankel Cardiovascular Center, who leaves behind a 33-year legacy at Michigan Medicine.

Leaders from across Michigan Medicine took turns at the podium to share personal accounts of the courage, passion and dedication to patients and families that have been hallmarks of Dywer’s leadership. Determination to always do the right thing, to speak up and to drive positive change were recurrent themes throughout all of the speeches highlighting Dwyer’s traits and many contributions to Michigan Medicine.

Dwyer departs Michigan Medicine today for Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she will serve as president of Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital, the organization’s flagship facility.
