Plan ahead: Parking changes for large events at Crisler Center
Please be advised that in an effort to improve the parking experience for all users, Athletics and Logistics, Parking and Transportation have recently reviewed the current parking plan for large events held at Crisler Center.
First, please be reminded that all U-M vehicles and personal vehicles are to be removed from the SC5 (Yellow) Lot and SC6 (Orange) Lot by 5 p.m. on game days.
Additionally, beginning with tonight’s men’s basketball game against Penn State, there will be a different method to reserve accessible parking in SC6.
Here’s what you need to know:
- To accommodate accessible parking needs on the day of any large event at Crisler, a section of SC6 will be cordoned off at 6 a.m. (it will be designated temporary “no parking”) and parkers will be asked not to park in that area. The area that will be cordoned off is shown below. It is the second northernmost row (both sides of the row) of SC6.

- Parking attendants will arrive at approximately 4 p.m. to begin preparing the lot for the game. Additional barricades will be set up around several additional rows in SC6 and cones will be placed in parking spots as vehicles vacate this area in order to secure the needed number of accessible spots.
- All cones and barricades will be removed immediately following the event so parkers can utilize the spaces the next day.
If this process works well for special events and home
basketball games, it will replace the current system of bagging and unbagging
the accessible and no parking signs in SC6. Please note that the two
permanent van accessible spaces will remain in front of Crisler Center in SC6.
Thank you for your cooperation!
