Faculty workshop: Community Coffee Chats

November 27, 2019  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

In order to assist in building community for faculty within the U-M Medical School, the Faculty Development Office is rolling out Community Coffee Chats (in some cases, a lunch chat!). The intention of the coffee chats is to gather faculty from across all departments, tracks and ranks for networking, socializing and to discuss topics important to all faculty.

When you receive a reminder email regarding your registration, you will also be asked if there are any pressing topics that you would like to discuss within this venue. The main intent is for faculty to have a chance in a casual setting to discuss best practices, learn tips from one another, build community and get advice.

Some suggested themes might include:

  • Advancing your individual career
  • Staying resilient in changing times
  • Understanding the promotion process
  • How to be an effective mentor and sponsor
  • Improving team communication
  • Supporting emerging leaders
  • Any other suggestion you might have!

Sessions:

Thursday, Jan. 9 | 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. (Refreshments served) | NCRC Building 520, Room 1122

Friday, Feb. 21 | 12 p.m. 1 p.m. (Lunch served) | BSRB Seminar Rooms, first floor
