Don’t forget: Help give back during Michigan Harvest Gathering food drive

Michigan Medicine is participating again this year in the annual Michigan Harvest Gathering, a food and fund drive sponsored by the Michigan Hospitals and Health Association. The drive will runs through Nov. 8.

According to the Food Bank Council of Michigan, 15 percent of Michigan households struggle to put food on the table and 18 percent of Michigan’s children don’t know where their next meal will come from. This food drive is one way Michigan Medicine is helping to improve the health of the community.

In 2018, the Michigan Medicine food drive coordinated by the PFANS team raised a total of $1,642 and 1,536 pounds of food, which provided a total of 7,040 meals for neighbors in need.

There are carts located throughout Michigan Medicine to make it easy for you to participate in this year’s drive. This is where you can place your donation of non-perishable foods and/or money (checks made payable to Food Gatherers). Every dollar makes a difference; a contribution of just $10 can feed one person for about a week!
