All Michigan Medicine faculty and staff are invited to attend an upcoming workshop that will help them navigate the multigenerational workplace.

The interactive event will take place from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15. It is presented by Voices of the Staff as part of the 2019 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit.

Attendees will participate in a “generational self-discovery” activity which raises awareness and opens up discussion about how and why people are defined through the lens of their birth year. After participating, attendees will:

  • Discover how different generations experience the workplace
  • Discuss differences and similarities across generations
  • Identify potential signs of ageism in the workplace
  • Consider actions to reduce the effect of intergenerational stereotypes

Facilitators will be: Denise Williams, Ph.D., M.S., SPHR, SHRM-SCP, organizational effectiveness consultant for Michigan Medicine Human Resources; Steve Vinson, MHSA, senior finance and business analyst within the U-M Medical Group; and Pedro Coracides, project manager with the Office of Patient Experience.
