Registration closing: Navigating Michigan’s Marijuana Laws

Join AHI for an innovative course on “Navigating Michigan’s Legalization of Recreational Marijuana with Adolescent Patients.”
This course addresses the uncertainties, best practices and legal ramifications for minors and young adults around this topic. Sessions will include a keynote presentation from Leslie Walker Harding, M.D., a leading pediatrician and researcher from Seattle Children’s Hospital in Washington state, where recreational marijuana has been legal since 2012; an overview of the new laws from Andrew Brisbo, executive director of the Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency; and practice-based learning on how we can screen and counsel effectively with young people.
This event will also feature an interactive session engaging adolescents about current forms of marijuana use, social norms and what health messaging they find effective.
Clinicians will leave with a set of actionable steps they can take to effectively address marijuana use with adolescents, as well as receive follow-up web-based training resources.
It will take place at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration closes Friday!
