Please be advised that projects around Ann Arbor are likely to cause traffic disruptions in the days ahead.
Plan ahead and expect delays and alert patients if they will be traveling in the area.
Here’s what you need to know:
- From today until 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, traffic along Washtenaw Avenue is expected to be routed to one lane in each direction between Geddes Avenue and Glen Avenue.
- The northbound Washtenaw Avenue left turn to Geddes will be prohibited and detoured to northbound Observatory Street, back to Geddes.
- The southbound Washtenaw Avenue left turn to Geddes will be prohibited and detoured to northbound Observatory Street, back to Geddes
- The northbound Washtenaw Avenue left turn to Palmer Avenue will be prohibited and detoured north on Zina Pitcher Place, west on East Ann Street, south on Glen Avenue, east on East Huron Street back to Palmer.
- Pedestrian traffic will be maintained.
- Beginning today, sections of North Fifth Avenue and Detroit Street are likely to experience lane closures for brick installation. The work will be done in three stages:
- Stage 1: Bricks will be replaced on the west lane of Fifth Avenue. The street will be reduced to one lane from Kingsley Street to Detroit Street, with the easterly lane remaining open.
- Stage 2: Bricks will be replaced on the east lane of Fifth Avenue. The street will be reduced to one lane from Kingsley Street to Detroit Street, with the easterly lane closed. Temporary two-way traffic will be permitted on Detroit Street, south of Kingsley.
- Stage 3: Bricks will be replaced on Detroit Street, north of Fifth Avenue. The easterly lane of Fifth Avenue will remain closed for construction equipment.
- During stages 2 and 3, intermittent full closures of Fifth Avenue will likely be needed, with southbound Fifth Avenue traffic temporarily detoured to westbound Kingsley, southbound Fourth Avenue, eastbound Catherine Street back to Fifth Avenue.
- During all stages, northbound Detroit Street traffic from Catherine Street will be able to turn onto southbound North Fifth Avenue.
- Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained.
- From today through Sunday, Oct. 13, traffic control devices will be set up to detour northbound traffic around the intersection of South Main Street and Hoover Avenue.
- Traffic intending to travel northbound on South Main Street will be detoured on Pauline Boulevard to South Seventh Street to West Madison Street to South Main Street.
- Traffic traveling southbound on South Main Street will be reduced to one lane between Hill Street and Hoover Avenue.
- Traffic intending to travel eastbound on Hoover Avenue will be detoured from South Main Street to Keech Avenue to Greene Street to Hoover Avenue.
- Traffic traveling westbound on Hoover Avenue will be detoured to Greene Street to Keech Avenue to South Main Street.
- Truck traffic traveling northbound on South Main Street will be detoured on East Stadium Avenue to Packard Street to South Main Street.
- Beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 9, Church Street is scheduled to be closed from Hill to South University.
- Southbound traffic will be detoured to eastbound South University, then south on South Forest Avenue, west on Hill Street and back to Church Street.
- Northbound traffic will detoured to eastbound Hill Street, then north on South Forest Avenue, west on South University and back to Church Street.
