MiChart Upgrade coming this Sunday, Oct. 20

October 16, 2019  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

This Sunday, Oct. 20, is the next upgrade for MiChart, the electronic health system for Michigan Medicine.

The October upgrade will include updates, system maintenance and new features to the MiChart application.

The most notable enhancement that will touch every MiChart user is the Storyboard, a redesigned workspace for users that replaces the Patient Header and provides quicker access to key details and common actions without switching screens. Storyboard will be a unifying feature across MiChart modules and users, telling the patient’s story in a consistent way, while also specializing the tools and information presented to the user for their role.

For more information, visit the upgrade page of the MiChart website and view the “It’s Possible” video for Storyboard.

MiChart System downtime for the upgrade is scheduled from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20. Guidelines and procedures to follow during this time may be found in the Oct. 20 System Upgrade Downtime Information sheet, which is also available on the Upgrade page of the MiChart website.

The MiChart system has been locked down since Friday, Oct. 11. For more information on any limitations resulting from the lockdown, see the tip sheet: Workflow Limitations: Transparent Upgrade Lockdown.

Training materials are available for review via MLearning and on the MiChart Upgrade Training Resources website. The content is organized by role and contains slides of relevant changes, with links to tip sheets and/or videos where applicable. All clinicians and MiChart users are encouraged to review the content to ensure a seamless upgrade and go-live.

Updates will be posted regularly to the Upgrade page following the downtime. Watch also for the “Daily Flash” newsletter which will be distributed daily to provide updated on changes and new tip sheets.
