Description
Dr. Ronna Hertzano, MD, PhD, will present her HBCS Seminar, An Omic’s Approach to Understanding Inner Ear Development, and the gEAR, Thursday, October 24, in THSL Seminar Room 2901. She is Associate Professor, Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and the Institute for Genome Sciences, University of Maryland School of Medicine. Her clinical practice is focused on diseases of the ear and lateral skull base, with a particular interest in hearing restoration and genetic hearing loss. As such, Dr. Hertzano takes care of patients of all ages with hearing loss, diseases of the middle ear, and specifically patients in need of cochlear implants, stapedectomy for otosclerosis, cholesteatoma, tympanic membrane perforations, ossicular chain reconstruction or tumors of the middle ear. Her research focuses on genetic hearing and balance impairment, and molecular cascades inner ear development and acquired hearing loss.
