‘Parking & Transportation Coordinator’ resource among changes made in response to faculty, staff concerns

Michigan Medicine recently made some changes in parking space allocations. To provide more information and answer commuter questions, employees now have a new resource available to help them identify parking and transportation options that suit their particular situation.

The organization has also made or plans to make several changes to parking areas to better serve those who utilize them.

Here’s what you need to know:

Beginning this week, the new parking and transportation coordinator — Bryan Castillo — works on-site right on the main hospital campus. He is available to help employees find a place to park and/or ride, depending upon their home location, work shift and other factors.

Castillo can be contacted via email at MMcommuter@umich.edu or by phone at 734-936-2773. He can also be visited in person at his desk at the Welcome Center on Taubman Level 2 (near the connector to Mott). His hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.

In addition to Castillo’s role, here are a few other changes being implemented by the organization:

In response to concerns about the NC78 parking lot (orange lot on the north side of Fuller), lighting will be upgraded with LEDs.

Additionally, lights in the paved portion of the M78 (Fuller Pool lot) will be turned on at 4 a.m. daily. The organization is also looking into the possibility of adding portable lighting to the gravel portion of the lot.

As always, Michigan Medicine understands that parking is a concern for many employees and remains committed to providing safe, timely, and reliable parking and transportation solutions for those who utilize parking.
