Faculty workshop: Community coffee chats
In order to assist in building community for faculty within the medical school, the Faculty Development Office is rolling out Community Coffee Chats.
The intention of the coffee chats is to gather faculty from across all departments, tracks and ranks for networking, socializing and to discuss topics important to all faculty. Everyone needs a coffee in the morning, right?
When you register, you will have the opportunity to choose which theme is most important to you for discussion. The theme will be announced one week prior to the chat based on the results received. A content expert will be present and a variety of conversation-stimulating prompts will be provided. The main intent is for faculty to have a chance in a casual setting to discuss best practices, learn tips from one another, build community and get advice.
Themes from which to choose include:
- Advancing your individual career
- Staying resilient in changing times
- Understanding the promotion process
- How to be an effective mentor and sponsor
- Improving team communication
- Supporting emerging leaders
- Any other suggestion you might have!
The chats are hosted by Durga Singer, M.D., assistant professor of pediatrics and Laura Denton, assistant director, faculty development.
