Excessive Heat Warning + Tips on Protecting Yourself and Others

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Southeast Michigan until 8PM Saturday as outdoor temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 90s, resulting in heat indices peaking to 100 to 110 degrees. This hot and humid weather resembles tropical conditions and will push the physical limits of our air conditioning systems.

Please help maintain our environment by:

  • Turning off all non-essential equipment, devices, and lighting.
  • Keeping windows closed.
  • Maintaining thermostats at normal levels.

This message applies to all UMHS facilities and staff with the exception of hospital and ambulatory care operating rooms. Our combined effort will aid in maintaining a comfortable environment during this excessive heat warning.
