The first full week of June is in the books and it was a busy one at Headlines!

Over the past few days, readers learned about all of the services offered at the Ypsilanti Health Center; the Rogel Cancer Center recapped a celebratory event in honor of Survivors Day; employees discovered the heartwarming story of patient Evie, who has benefited from music therapy at Michigan Medicine; and faculty and staff were recognized for making a difference last month.

Ypsilanti Health Center: Caring for its community

The Ypsilanti Health Center is a lot more than just a medical facility. Faculty and staff in the clinic offer legal services, behavioral health resources, free child safety equipment for community members and even a food pantry. Celebrating survivors: Rogel Cancer Center event marks 25th anniversary

Last Sunday, more than 300 individuals who had been touched by cancer in some way came together to celebrate lives, milestones and successes. They did so as part of the 25th annual Survivors Day event, hosted by the Rogel Cancer Center. Take a look back at the event, which proved to be a “can’t-miss” opportunity for everyone who attended.

Music therapy helps 8-year-old girl cope with medical visits

For 8-year-old Everlyse Hurts, even simple medical appointments can be terrifying. The little girl, who was born without eyes, has always feared hospitals and doctors. That all changed during a recent visit, when music therapist Emma Wymer walked in with a guitar and started playing.
