U-M team wins science tournament!

Some members of this year’s STAT Madness champions!

Thanks to the votes of thousands of people around the world, a team of U-M biomedical scientists, engineers and clinicians has won the 2019 STAT Madness virtual tournament of science run by the STAT health news organization.

The team led by Susan Shore, Ph.D., includes faculty, staff and students from otolaryngology, physiology and biomedical engineering. They’ve spent years working to understand the reason why people hear persistent phantom noises, a condition called tinnitus. Now, they’re doing a double blind clinical trial to test a device they developed based on this research.
