Spring cleaning for medicine cabinets: U-M team to help Michiganders

This Saturday, Michiganders will get a chance to do some spring cleaning of their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of potentially risky leftover drugs, thanks in part to a Michigan Medicine team.

The team from the Michigan Opioid Prescribing and Engagement Network has partnered with health, community and law enforcement organizations to arrange 54 drug take-back locations in 34 counties.

The events, held twice a year, have already collected tons of unneeded medications that could fall into the wrong hands, or reach the environment, if they aren’t properly disposed of.
