The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Hospital Dentistry Clinic is taking part in Oral Cancer Awareness Month during April.
Dental and medical associations urge regular oral cancer screenings by dental professionals because early detection can help save lives!
In the U.S., 53,000 people will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer this year. That means 132 people in the U.S. are diagnosed every day.
To help raise awareness, the team participated in the “Smacking Out Oral Cancer” campaign, put on by Oral Cancer Awareness Michigan (OCAM), with blue lips to raise awareness for oral cancer. Check out a photo above!
