MiChart upgrade coming Sunday, April 14

April 11, 2019  //  FOUND IN: Updates & Resources

This Sunday, April 14, is the next upgrade for MiChart, the electronic health system for Michigan Medicine.

It will be one of two planned upgrades for 2019 with a goal to reduce downtime duration and impact to the organization. The second upgrade is scheduled for October 2019.

To prepare for new functionality and enhancements, the MiChart teams have prepared training content for all MiChart users to review before changes go into effect.

This year, eLearning modules are only being pushed out for high impact changes to the following groups:

  • Allied Health users
  • Inpatient, ED, and OR/PACU nurses
  • Users with Registration and Cadence Scheduling Access

All other content is available for review on the MiChart Upgrade Training Resources website. The content is organized by role and contains slides of relevant changes, with links to tip sheets and/or videos where applicable.

All clinicians and MiChart users are encouraged to review the content to ensure a seamless upgrade and go-live.

MiChart System downtime for the upgrade will be from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday. Guidelines and procedures to follow during this time may be found in the April 14 System Upgrade Downtime Information sheet which is also available on the Upgrade page of the MiChart website.

Updates will be posted regularly to the Upgrade page. Watch also for the “Daily Flash” newsletter which will be distributed daily to provide new tip sheets and changes.

The MiChart system has been locked down since last Friday, April 5. For more information on any limitations resulting from the lockdown, see the tip sheet: Workflow Limitations: Transparent Upgrade Lockdown.
