Medical School community asked to take brief survey on new strategic plan

The U-M Medical School (UMMS) is rolling out a new strategic plan — a vision that will guide faculty, staff and learners in their pursuit of excellence across the tripartite mission.

The foundation of the plan is formed by five strategic pillars: People, Discovery, Education, Care and Service. Each pillar has a goal and various strategies and tactics that have been developed by focus groups as areas of potential improvement.

UMMS leadership is gathering input on that work for three of the pillars: People, Education and Service. The Discovery pillar tactics have already been vetted with multiple stakeholders and the Care pillar tactics are still under development.

Faculty, staff and learners are asked to review the proposed tactics for the People, Education and Service pillars, and then choose which tactics they think leadership should pursue first by choosing just one tactic per strategy. Feedback will help shape the work plan for fiscal year 2020 (July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020).

A list of strategies and tactics for the People, Education, and Service pillars is available for review through a Qualtrics survey.

The survey, which will be open from today until April 24, takes only a few minutes to complete and will provide leadership with meaningful feedback to guide the medical school into the future.
