It’s Take Your Child to Work Day, giving you a chance to show your kids what you do on a daily basis.

As a reminder, please consider the following to ensure a productive and enjoyable day for everyone:

  • Respect the privacy of patients. Children cannot be exposed to any form of protected health information in accordance with organizational policy. Additionally, visiting children should not interact directly with patients.
  • For infection control reasons, visiting children are not permitted on inpatient floors or in any patient care areas in ambulatory, clinical or research settings. Children must also follow all policies in regard to the ongoing flu season and do not bring a child signs or symptoms of illness.
  • Michigan Medicine policies must be adhered to at all times. Employees are responsible for their own child(ren) while in the academic medical center.

If employees at C.S. Mott and Von Voigtlander Women’s hospitals bring children to work, they should check in at the front desk and get a visitor sticker for their child. Other departments should check in using their unit’s routine policy for visitors.

If you did bring your kid(s) to work, be sure to create some memories and snap a photo or two! Send a cool photo of you and your kid(s) at work to headlines@med.umich.edu and you can be featured in an upcoming edition of Headlines and win some fantastic prizes!
