All Michigan Medicine faculty and staff are invited to the next event in the Rewrite the Script Educational Series, which will cover “Medication Assisted Treatment for Substance Use Disorders and Waiver Process for Suboxone.”

Regardless of your area of clinical practice, knowledge of buprenorphine management will be important. Recent prescribing data shows that while opioid prescribing has declined since 2011, buprenorphine prescribing is on the rise. This lecture will cover the waiver requirements for buprenorphine prescribing and help demystify the process for prescribing buprenorphine for pain and for substance use disorder management.

It will take place at noon on Tuesday, March 26 in the Dow Auditorium.

Among the highlights:

  • Welcome and introduction by Paul Hilliard, M.D.
  • Christopher Martin, M.D., will discuss inpatient MAT and SUD services
  • Christopher Blazes, M.D., will cover epidemiology and the transition to the ambulatory environment/follow-up and management
  • Jennifer Aldea, PA-C will present on ambulatory care SUD treatment and waiver process for PA’s
