Parking update open houses postponed to a later date
At Michigan Medicine, it is a high priority to improve patient access to care, including providing adequate and convenient parking.
In the last few days, the organization has begun to share information about changes in parking space allocations that were recommended by a cross-disciplinary Advisory Committee convened last year to identify options to improve parking and transportation. These changes outlined reallocation of select gold and blue spaces in various parking structures and flat lots, with the intent of creating an additional 280 patient and visitor parking spaces in the P3 (Taubman) parking structure.
In response, comments and suggestions were received from the community which recognized the need for additional patient parking but also expressed concern about the options currently under consideration. As a result, the Michigan Medicine Leadership Team has determined that an additional period of study is warranted, to further enhance the good work completed by the Advisory Committee.
The Parking Update Open Houses planned for March 25, 27, and April 2 will be postponed and rescheduled later this year. The new goal to implement parking changes is later this summer.
To learn more about the proposed changes, online resources are now available to employees.
Thank you for your voices and support to improve the patient care experience, while seeking a balanced solution for parking and transportation overall.
