Introducing the Michigan Medicine Wellness Office

March 6, 2019  //  FOUND IN: Strategy & Leadership

Last year, members of the Michigan Medicine community came together to study ways in which the organization could improve wellness for faculty, staff and learners.

The Wellness and Civility Task Force surveyed employees and studied trends nationwide in order to come up with a set of recommendations, one of which was the establishment of an on-site Wellness Office.

The new Michigan Medicine Wellness Office, which is now open, will provide centralized coordination, development and implementation of programs and initiatives designed to improve and support wellness on campus. This will involve working with offices and resources already in place, including MHealthy, the Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience, the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion, the Office of Faculty Affairs, the Office of Clinical Affairs and Human Resources.

The Wellness Office will also utilize its own resources to tackle burnout and other important issues by working to alleviate the root causes of them — such as workload concerns, dysfunctional teams, and the need to improve rewards and incentive programs.

The office will be led by a chief wellness officer with support from an administrative director and project manager. More information will be shared as available.
