The U-M Medical School Office of Research offers a number of upcoming learning opportunities at Michigan Medicine!

The offerings include:

Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award Ceremony & Lecture

When: 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12

Where: Biomedical Science Research Building, Kahn Auditorium

Reception to follow the lecture

Thomas W. Glover, Ph.D. will be honored as the 2018 recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award in Biomedical Research. Glover will present on “Chromosome Fragile Sites: Windows to Novel Mechanisms of Genome Rearrangements and DNA Repair.” Registration is not required. All are welcome!

Orientation for Clinical Investigators

When: 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13

Where: Taubman Health Sciences Library, Room 2903

Orientation for Clinical Investigators is designed for early career faculty or experienced researchers new to clinical research at U-M. Participants will learn about IRBMED, regulatory affairs, conflict of interest, audits and monitoring,, clinical research finances and U-M resources for clinical trials research, including the Clinical Trials Support Units. IRBMED Seminar Series: An Eleventh Hour Look at the Common Rule Changes

When: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18

Where: Ford Auditorium, University Hospital

This installment of the IRBMED Seminar Series will provide the most up-to-date overview of the Revisions to the Common Rule issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. The general compliance date for the revised Common Rule (45 CFR 46 subpart A) is Jan. 21, 2019. The seminar will include a mock IRB session demonstrating a review of a new Oncology study, which will highlight the new requirements for Informed Consent. Register here.
