String Prep Academy to perform youth recital at Michigan Medicine

Kathy Zhang will be one of the students performing on Thursday.

The String Preparatory Academy within the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) provides the highest quality of string training to pre-college musicians in elementary through high school.

Cello and violin students receive private lessons with faculty, guest and graduate student instructors as well as participate in monthly master classes by renowned U-M string faculty.

At a performance Thursday at University Hospital, Ian Smith will perform Reynoldo’s “Hahn Romance”; Trinity Chen, De Falla’s “Spanish Dance”; Kathy Zheng, Bruch’s “Concerto 2”; and Eugenia Cho will perform Mendelssohn’s “Concerto.”
