Registration now open for inaugural Diversity in Medicine conference

The inaugural Diversity in Medicine Conference at U-M aims to unite health professions students and faculty from across the country to share the work they are doing to increase diversity in medicine.

Its vision is to generate conversations within the medical community surrounding not only the problems associated with institutions lacking a diverse system of health care providers, but also to highlight the innovative solutions that many institutions are actively implementing.

While many medical pipeline programs across the country have found success within their local communities, the conference’s ultimate goal is to create a coordinated effort to address the lack of diversity in medicine at a national level. It will serve as a space for students and faculty to come together to present their work, exchange ideas, discover opportunities for collaboration, and reinforce why the work being performed is so important.

Registration for the conference — which will run from Feb. 8-10 — is now open and will remain open until Jan. 1, 2019. Registration is free and open to all members of the Michigan Medicine community or the general public.

Events will take place at BSRB (109 Zina Pitcher Place, Ann Arbor).
