Michigan Medicine has once again been recognized for its patient safety efforts.

The organization earned an ‘A’ in patient safety by the Leapfrog Group, one of the top honors in the health care industry.

That puts Michigan Medicine among the best large teaching hospitals in the U.S.

Leapfrog utilizes a number of methodologies in order to compile its grades. Among them, a top hospital must:

  • Meet vigorous standards when it comes to ICU physician staffing
  • Meet Leapfrog’s standard for Computerized Physician Order Entry — which limits medication errors
  • Meet or surpass standards in 18 measurable categories, including inpatient care management, maternity care, and infections and injuries.
