Plan ahead: Home basketball schedule to impact parking
Believe it or not, U-M basketball season starts this week!
Please be advised that home basketball games will cause parking changes on the athletic campus over the coming months.
Plan ahead if you will be parking in the area.
Here’s what you need to know:
On the following weekdays, all U-M and personal vehicles must be removed from the signed areas (that prohibit parking) within both the SC5 (yellow) lot and SC6 (orange) lot by 5 p.m.:
- Friday, Nov. 2: Exhibition vs. Northwood
- Tuesday, Nov. 6: vs. Norfolk State
- Friday, Nov. 23: vs. Chattanooga (please remove all vehicles prior to the holiday/season day)
- Wednesday, Nov. 28: vs. North Carolina
- Thursday, Jan. 3: vs. Penn State
- Tuesday, Jan. 22: vs. Minnesota
- Tuesday, Jan. 29: vs. Ohio State
- Thursday, Feb. 28: vs. Nebraska
These lots will be signed accordingly, so parkers will know of the need to vacate on these weekday evenings. A portion of SC6 will have bagged parking space signs all day on weekday game days to assure sufficient Accessible parking capacity at game time.
The SC36 (orange) lot provides a good parking alternative on these game dates (depending on work schedule), as faculty and staff are recommended to not park at Crisler Center after 5 p.m. on the days of these games.
If employees choose to park in the lots after 5 p.m., return bus transportation routes (or any other arranged mode of transportation) may be impacted based on the traffic and congestion that occurs at the end of the game.
SafeRide (734-647-8000, then option No. 1 OR choose “University of Michigan” in the TapRide mobile app), Ride Home (734-647-8000, option No. 2) or Emergency Ride Home (call the Division of Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131) options can be arranged but may also be delayed in their ability to get you to your vehicle. Additional information on these options can be found here.
Please remember that any time you feel that you are in an unsafe situation, need an escort or a ride to your vehicle due to special circumstances, you should immediately notify the Division of Public Safety and Security at 734-763-1131. Dispatchers will send the appropriate team to assist, whether on central campus or on the medical campus.
