Description

Michigan Medicine is more than just a place to work for many of us. It’s a family of people who share common goals for their patients. We put attention and care in seeing our patients through their rehab needs.

Now we have the opportunity to help one of our co-workers. Many of you know Jo Klein, PT who works in inpatient rehab, ALS clinic, and adult MD clinic, and previously worked in med-surg acute care, cardiopulmonary acute care, as well as Med Rehab Briarwood. In April 2017, her son Charles was diagnosed with juvenile Batten Disease. The disorder is neurodegenerative, affects otherwise healthy children and causes blindness, seizures, and loss of motor and cognitive function. It is always fatal. Jo and her husband are on a mission to change that. They have partnered with Beyond Batten Disease Foundation by creating Bind Up Batten Fund in an effort to raise money to support a clinical trial for the first ever treatment for juvenile Batten Disease.

We are working to support these efforts by holding the first Inspire 5K Run & Walk. It will take place on Sunday, November 11th, 2018 at 10 AM in Gallup Park in Ann Arbor. Please consider participating in this event or donating to the cause.
