20th annual holiday project for chemotherapy patients now underway

The Michigan Mittens for Chemotherapy Patients Annual Project is back again and celebrating 20 years!

Our Maize & Blue Michigan Mitten is our way of honoring our patients receiving chemotherapy treatment during the holiday season.  To date, volunteers have made, filled & distributed over 8,500 holiday stockings & mittens!  Patient response has been overwhelming.   Receiving one of our mittens filled with goodies is a bright spot in an otherwise tedious and worrisome day.

Mittens are filled with comfort and care items: hand sanitizer, lip balm, tissues, puzzle books, pencil, highlighter, coloring book & colored pencils, Jelly Belly packets, note pads, unscented hand lotions, playing cards, toothbrush kits, gum, hot chocolate, and candy.  We buy in bulk to get the best price possible.

We could really use your support to keep our project going.  This year, we have set a goal of making & filling 400 mittens.

Visit us Friday, November 2, in the Triangle from 10:00-2:00 PM to learn more about the project and make an in-person donation.

If you are unable to drop by, you can give  your tax-deductible donation at: https://leadersandbest.umich.edu/find/#!/give/basket/fund/306478?keyword=michigan%20mitten
